Description

This bridge, located in the northern woods at SJ 8321 8331, was built around 1825 for Samuel Greg and restored in 1980. It features a wide single segmental arch made of bossed sandstone masonry. The bridge supports a narrow footway, now constructed of concrete, and has an open parapet with an ashlar coping, which is held up by low square piers. The end piers are slightly taller and have a cross cut across the top. The design is similar to the Packhorse Bridge by J Mellor, built in 1820, but this bridge may be slightly later in date.
