Description

Oaklands is a 17th-century farmhouse, later altered in the 19th century and now used as a house. The building is timber-framed with brick nogging, set on an ashlar stone plinth. It has a Kerridge stone-slate roof and two brick chimneys. The front of the house is 1½ storeys high and comprises three bays. The timber framing features small, regularly spaced frames with angle bracing on the wall plate. The left bay has a 3-light casement window, with a gabled half dormer above. A brick porch has been added, with a gabled hood supported by timber posts and a 2-light casement window above. The right bay projects forward under its gable, with a 3-light casement window below and a 2-light window above, along with herringbone detailing in the gable. Large brick extensions to the rear have been painted to resemble timber framing. Inside, chamfered ceiling beams remain.
