Description
Willow Cottage is a house dating from the 16th century, with partial refacing from the 19th century and alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber frame set on a stone plinth, with a combination of plastered and brick infill. The front is finished in washed plastered brick. The roof is made of a mix of Kerridge stone-slate and Welsh slate, and there are two brick chimneys. The layout consists of a central hall with two cross wings. The north front has one storey and an attic, with gables at either end and 15 small frames that include angle bracing of the wall plate. The roof trusses are of the tiebeam and collar type. All windows are from the 20th century, featuring applied lead glazing, including a three-light window in a gabled dormer. The south front is constructed of brick with timber work in the gable and includes a small gabled porch. Inside, there are timber-framed partition walls, a fire beam and posts in the room to the right, and two early crude board doors with iron strap hinges, wooden handles, and latches.
