Description
Newton Hall is a house dating from the 17th century, with additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of rendered and whitewashed brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof. The building stands three storeys tall. The entrance front has a stone plinth and a brick string course between the ground and first floors, with three gables above. The ground floor has five windows, which are all metal-framed replacements from the 20th century. The first floor has three 2-light casements from the 19th century, and there are also 2-light casements in the attic. The gables are adorned with large 19th-century bargeboards. To the left, there is a large addition from the 20th century. At the rear, there is a late 17th-century wing that features two first-floor windows with original leaded 3-light casements. Inside, the ground floor parlours have chamfered and end-stopped ceiling beams, each with stone fire breasts and large stone slab lintels. Additional chamfered ceiling beams can be found in an upstairs room, along with some small framing.
