Description

Old Bakery Cottage is a house dating from 1791. It is constructed of red Flemish bond brick with a slate roof. The house has two storeys and a symmetrical three-bay road frontage. The front door has a cambered relieving arch and a 20th-century porch. Splayed, cambered-head sash windows with 5 x 4 panes and exposed sash boxes are located on either side of the front door. A blind window in the centre of the first floor contains a datestone inscribed "JSM 1791". Flat-lintelled sash windows with 5 x 3 panes and exposed sash boxes are situated on either side of the ground floor. A 19th-century gabled addition extends to the rear, under a parallel roof slope. The property was formerly listed as the cottage to the right of Goostrey’s Bakery.
