Description
The Laurels is a house located in Longbridge Deverill, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of painted Flemish bond brick and features a tiled roof with a hip to the right and a brick stack. The building is two stories tall and has two windows, both fitted with sash windows.
At the center of the front is an early 20th-century gabled porch that includes a four-panelled door and tripartite flush sashes with dropped keystones on either side. There is a plat band running along the building, and the first floor has two tripartite flush sashes, also with dropped keystones. The upper section features a moulded cornice above a blocking course, and the corners of the building are accentuated with rusticated chamfered quoins.
At the rear, there is a mid-19th-century wing that includes a four-pane sash window and a three-light casement. The main range has a canted bay and additional four-pane sashes. Inside, the house has doors with two raised panels, a staircase with stick balusters and a closed string, and a fireplace surround decorated with paterae.
