LONGBRIDGE DEVERILL CROCKERTON GREEN ST 84 SE (west side) 3/188 No 24 (Green Farmhouse)

Farmhouse, now detached house. Late C16 and C17. Coursed rubble stone, single roman tiled roof, brick stacks. Five-bay cruck house with C17 rear wing. Two storey, 3-windowed; casements. No entrance to front, three 2-light and two 3-light casements to ground floor, first floor has one 3-light and two 2-light casements. Left return has reset planked and studded door and C20 casements. Rear has 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement, C20 casement and blocked window. Rear wing has planked door and 2- light casements, two blocked doorways, first floor has 3-light chamfered mullioned casement. Interior has four exposed full cruck trusses with collars and spurs, north cruck possibly embedded in exterior wall and not visible, purlins on backs of crucks. Open fireplace with chamfered timber lintel on brick jambs, other blocked fireplaces, deeply chamfered beams. South bay is possibly C17 addition. A rare example of a large cruck-built house in this area.
