Description
Stone House is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble, with the right return side rebuilt in 19th-century brick. The roof is covered with old plain tiles and is hipped to the left, featuring brick stacks at the central and right corners. The building has an L-plan layout, with a wing extending to the rear on the right side.
It is a single storey and attic structure with a two-window range. There is an early to mid-20th century brick lean-to at the right end, which includes a late 20th-century door and a three-light casement window on the return side. On the left side, there is an old three-light casement window with a horizontal glazing bar. A fire window is also present. The early to mid-20th century features include two- and three-light casements with horizontal glazing bars, set within an area of scored imitation ashlar render; one of the two-light windows has been inserted into a former doorway. The tile-hung dormers have 19th or 20th-century three-light casements with glazing bars.
Inside, the room on the left has an ogee stop-chamfered ceiling beam, and a large open fireplace with a chamfered beam. There are also 19th-century winder stairs.
