Description
Bede Cottage is a house that has been converted into two cottages. It dates from the early 17th century, with later alterations in the 18th century. The structure is timber-framed and constructed with red brick, topped with a plain-tiled roof that is hipped at the west end. There is a ridge stack made of red brick with three flues, although the upper courses have been rebuilt.
The main range, which was rebuilt in the late 18th century, is two storeys high and features two three-light casements with their heads flush with the eaves. There are segmental arches above two ground floor casements located on either side of the doorway. The cross-wing at the eastern end is also two storeys tall and consists of two bays. It has one 20th-century small-pane wood casement on both the first and ground floors. The framing of the walls consists of three panels in height.
