Description
Briar Pool Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse that has had its front part recased in brick in the early 19th century and altered in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brown brick, with the rear part in irregular bond and the front part in Flemish bond. It is two storeys high and has two windows at the front. There is a replaced door in an added porch and replaced windows in unaltered openings that feature wedge lintels and projecting stone cills. The rear wing has a band at the attic floor. Inside, the rear wing contains chamfered oak beams, oak joists, and an altered inglenook fireplace, along with some broad-board doors on HL hinges. The front wing also has chamfered oak beams. The farmhouse likely began as a small 17th-century structure with a gable facing the road, with the front wing added in the 18th century and recased in the early 19th century. The notable features are primarily found inside the building.
