Description

Greenhills Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the late 17th century, with a front wing added in 1876. The building is constructed of brown brick, featuring darker, smaller bricks arranged in English garden wall bond on the 17th-century wing, and has grey slate roofs that are graded on the older section.

The front wing is two storeys plus an attic and has three windows. It features a replaced glazed door set in a round-arched opening with a radial bar fanlight, along with four-pane recessed sashes that have stop-chamfered stone lintels and projecting stone cills. There is a central ridge chimney and a canted bay window on the left gable end, with attic windows in the gables.

The 17th-century rear wing has a stone plinth, with flush stone quoins at the corners and window reveals. It includes a recessed ovolo painted stone-mullioned window on the left side and a five-light recessed bevelled mullioned and transomed window in the lower storey of the rear gable end, along with a five-light recessed bevelled mullioned window above, although one light is blocked. The glass in the side window has been renewed, while the rear windows retain small panes. The rear wing was extended to the northwest, likely in the late 18th century, and to the southeast in the late 19th century. The interior has not been inspected, but visible features in the rear wing include oak beams, likely ovolo, and an inglenook with an oak bressumer.
