Description
Cloughbank Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 17th century but has been largely rebuilt and extended in the late 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of English garden wall bond brick and features graduated stone slate and slate roofs. The layout is a two-unit baffle-entry plan, with later wings added to the front and rear, as well as a continuous lean-to at the back. The building stands two storeys high and consists of two bays. The first bay includes a later wing with a 20th-century window on the ground floor and a three-light casement window with a cambered brick arch on the first floor. A large projecting chimney stack is located on the right side of this wing.
In the main range, there is a door to the left, which is obscured by a 20th-century porch, along with a two-light casement window on the ground floor and a three-light window on the first floor. A large central ridge chimney stack is also present. The end elevations show remnants of a former timber frame. Inside, the house retains an inglenook fireplace with a bresummer beam and spere, although the beams are generally plastered over.
