Description

Yewtree House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, dating from the mid-18th century. It features Flemish-bond brickwork, except for the central bay which uses header bond, along with stone dressings and a slate roof. The building has a double-depth central-staircase plan with two storeys plus an attic, and a later porch added to the left gable.

The house has three bays, with the central bay slightly projecting forward. This bay includes a stone plinth, a four-panel door with a four-light overlight, a stone architrave, and a tripartite keystone. Above the door is a two-light casement window. The first and third bays each have a three-light casement window on both floors. All windows are later replacements and feature stone sills and cambered brick arches with keystones, except for the window above the door, which has a finely rubbed flat brick arch.

The house is topped with large gable stacks that have an oversailing course and brick water tabling. A stone-coped garden wall completes the overall appearance of the property. Inside, there is an oak dogleg staircase with a deep moulded handrail and turned balusters, although the balusters have been boarded over.
