Description
This is a late 18th-century barn situated immediately to the west of Springvale. It is constructed of Flemish bond brickwork with a graduated slate roof. The barn has four bays; the fourth bay is a slightly later addition. It features a full-height winnowing floor and two storeys. Cart doors are located in the second bay, flanked by brick piers that support a small catslide roof. The other bays have circular pitching eyes and honeycomb vents on the first floor, with a blocked door in the third bay. The rear elevation includes a semi-elliptical brick arched winnowing door, two window openings, two later door openings, and vents to the first floor. A projecting chimney stack is located on the left gable, and a timber flue, likely for a corn drying kiln, is positioned between bays 3 and 4. Large pointed brick arches on either side of the winnowing floor support the roof. The barn is included on the list for group value.
