Description
The Manor House Stables, originally built in the 17th century, are now used for storage. The date "JAA 1701 GS" (James Alcroft) above the loft door likely marks a restoration rather than the original construction date, with further restoration occurring in the 19th century. The stables feature square-panel timber framing with brick nogging, a stone plinth, and a slate roof. The structure consists of four bays arranged in one storey plus an attic, with double doors in bays 2 and 3. The stone plinth includes angle braces and raised eaves. Bay 1 is set back, bay 2 has a gabled roof and a loft access door above the double doors, and bay 4 includes brick breathers. The rear of bays 3 and 4 and the right gable appear to retain the only original timber. The farmhouse, known as Manor House, which was located to the north of the stables, was destroyed during the war.
