Description

The lychgate at Hale Chapel, built around 1880, features a sandstone base with a timber frame and a graduated stone slate roof. It has a transverse pitched roof over double gates, which are adorned with pierced quatrefoils and flanked by weathered dwarf walls. The structure includes posts and diagonal supports that rise to support king-post trusses with curved struts. All components are chamfered and pegged together. This lychgate is included for its group value.
