2 Storey Barn To North Of Witherington Farmhouse

This is a two-storey barn dating from the early 19th century, located to the north of Witherington Farmhouse. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick and features a tiled half-hipped roof. The barn is positioned at right angles to a large granary. The west front has three segmental-headed planked doors, two small casement windows, and one large sliding door. The right side of the barn includes a sliding door and a loft door leading to the first floor. There is rear access to the adjoining granary. The building has toothed eaves and a cornice, with a mid-19th century bay added to the right in English bond with vitrified headers. Inside, there are brick partition walls, and the roof trusses include cover and clasped purlins but lack a tie-beam, instead featuring 'H' struts to the first floor below the eaves level. The first floor has stop-chamfered beams that support the roof. The barn is currently used for processing grain.
