Description
School House is a detached house built in the 18th century, marked by the date TC/1692 on a stone tablet above the door. It features English bond brick construction with a tiled roof and gable-end brick stacks that have toothing. The building is two stories high with two windows. A central 20th-century door is flanked by two 3-light latticed leaded casements, both topped with flat arches. There is a three-brick plat band at the first floor, which also has two 3-light latticed leaded casements. The roof includes two hipped dormers with 2-light latticed casements and has a coped verge with kneelers on the right side.
To the left, there is a 19th-century extension built in English bond with vitrified headers and one 3-light casement. On the right, an integral single-storey extension features a hipped roof and a 2-light casement. Inside, the house has a chamfered ceiling beam and joists with step and concave stops, an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel, planked doors, and a 2-bay roof. A school was established here in 1784 thanks to a £100 endowment from Emma Noyes.
