Description

Thatchings is a detached cottage dating to the late 17th century, rebuilt in the mid-18th century. The south side is timber-framed with square panels, while the north side is built of Flemish bond brick. The roof is thatched, with gable-end brick stacks. The cottage faces the street with a gabled end, and doors are located on the returns. The south front has two storeys and one window, featuring a 20th-century door and metal casement windows on either side, with a single 2-light casement window on the first floor. The gable displays a 20th-century casement window and the initials W/GI set into vitrified brick headers. The right return has a glazed 20th-century door and metal casements, with a brick section scratched with the date 1751 below the eaves. An additional bay is built in English bond brick to the west. Internally, there are chamfered beams with run-out stops and open fireplaces with chamfered lintels.
