Description

Rose Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions in the 20th century at the rear. It is constructed of English garden wall bond brick with a thatched roof. The house follows a three-unit baffle-entry plan, with two storeys, and includes a 20th-century porch and rear additions. The facade has three bays, each with 20th-century replacement bow and casement windows on both floors. An eyebrowed thatch overhangs the first-floor windows, and a clustered chimney stack sits between the first and second bays. Inside, there is a chamfered bressumer beam supported on a replacement spere post. Chamfered beams are found throughout, featuring run-out stops. The central first-floor room is open to the roof, with purlins supported on crosswalls.
