Description
The wall enclosing the Friends' burial ground, likely built in the late 17th century, is constructed from three courses of large blocks of red sandstone topped with flush rounded copings. It features plain square stone gateposts and a boarded gate. Inside the burial ground, there is a visible 17th-century stone slab that reads: "HERE LYETH INTERRED THE BODI OF JOHN STARKEY LATE OF STRETTON GENT WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE THE 10TH DAY OF APRIL IN THE 44 YEAR OF HIS AGE ANNO DOMINI 1686: POST FUNERA VIRTUS." Below this inscription, there is a shield with a simple scroll on each side, featuring an incised image of a bird, likely a swan, in a passant position.
