Description

BADDINGTON C.P. SHROPSHIRE UNION CANAL SJ 64 NW MAIN LINE 6/ 32 Canal mile post 30m north of Hack Green - Bridge GV II

Cast-iron mile post circa 1826. Dome topped 150mm in diameter and 600mm high. The post supports a curved-on-plan "T" shaped distance indicator divided into three panels. The panels have raised black capital letters on a white background and read "Nantwich 3 miles" (north) "Autherley Junction 36 miles" (south) and "Norbury Junction 20½ miles" (lower centre). There are beaded divisions and edgings to the panels and the lower panel sits on a beaded-ring moulded on the post.
