Lodge To North West Of Westburn House (St Anthony'S Secondary School)

The lodge to Westburn House, which is now part of St Anthony's Secondary School, dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed from horizontally-tooled ashlar stone and features an ashlar plinth and dressings. The roof is covered with graduated Lakeland slates and has ashlar chimneys. The building is single-storey with two windows. It has a central panelled door with an overlight that includes glazing bars, all set within a lugged architrave. On either side of the door are renewed sash windows with projecting stone sills and rusticated voussoirs, with the central window being larger. The corners of the lodge are accentuated by rusticated angle pilasters. The hipped roof has deep eaves and a truncated mid-ridge ashlar chimney.
