Description
The Railway Inn is a public house that was originally built as a house in the late 18th century. It features painted incised stucco with painted ashlar dressings and has a Welsh slate roof with dark grey ridge tiles and a brick chimney. The building is two storeys high and has three windows on the main facade, with two lower storeys and two windows. There is a pent extension on the left side.
The entrance consists of a low wide panelled door with a plain overlight located to the right of the taller section of the building. The ground floor windows are of irregular size, with the left window possibly being a blocked opening; these have plain reveals and painted projecting sills. The first-floor windows are sashes with glazing bars, featuring wood architraves and painted projecting sills.
The lower section on the right has two plain round floor windows and small renewed first-floor sashes also with wood architraves and projecting sills. The roof is hipped, with truncated chimneys at the right end of each section. The left side of the taller section has renewed ground-floor windows, with the left window under a catslide roof, and one wide sash above with glazing bars, a wood architrave, and a projecting painted sill. The building is prominently positioned above a road cutting.
