Description

9 and 10 Ryhope Village are two houses built in the mid to late 18th century. They are constructed from coursed squared limestone with ashlar quoins and painted ashlar dressings, while the left side is rendered. The front roof is covered with graduated Lakeland slates and features brick chimneys and stone gable copings, while the rear roof is made of French tiles. The houses are arranged in a double range and have two storeys with four windows.

There are paired central doors that have been renewed, situated under pent hoods. The 20th-century windows feature wooden mullions and transoms, with a three-light window on the left, a four-light window on the right, and two-light windows on the first floor, the first of which is wider. All windows have painted flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills. The left side has large quoins, and the roof includes moulded kneelers at the gable copings, with transverse ridge chimneys at each end and to the left of the first door.
