Description
54 and 55 North Green are two houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings, a plinth, and projecting quoins. The roof is made of graduated Lakeland slates with stone gable copings. The buildings are two storeys high and have three bays.
There are steps leading up to paired central doors that have plain stone surrounds and moulding at the base of the overlights. The door for No. 55 on the left has been renewed and sits under a plain overlight, while No. 54 on the right features a six-panel door with an overlight that has a paired four-petal flower pattern. Above the doors, there are plain stone surrounds to a blind window, with circa 1959 glazing on the left and late 19th-century sash windows on the right. No. 54 retains its original iron bars over the cellar chute in front of the window. The roof is adorned with curved kneelers, a banded chimney at the left end, and a truncated chimney at the right end.
