NZ3956SE TOWARD ROAD 920-1/22/225 (West side) 10/11/78 Wall, piers and railings to east boundary of Mowbray Park

GV II

Entrance piers, walls and railings at E boundary of park to E of S lodge (qv). c1856. Walls brick with ashlar coping; piers ashlar; railings cast-iron. Piers flank entrance approx 5 metres SE of lodge; walls and railings extend approx 100 metres N from piers as far as former railway cutting. Gothic style. Low brick walls have chamfered coping and are interrupted by entrance to NE of lodge with late C20 brick piers. Square piers to SE of lodge have plinth, cornice and pyramidal coping; railings made in tracery-like pattern with flambeau terminals and finials.
