Description
The entrance piers to a private road at Park Place in Sunderland were built around 1855. They are made of painted ashlar and consist of six piers that provide vehicle and pedestrian access from Park Road to Park Place. The structure features renewed quadrant walls and iron gates. There are two pairs of round piers for the footpaths, each with a plinth, a top band, and low conical coping. The vehicle entrance piers are set back and are taller, joined to the footpath piers by 20th-century quadrant walls, and have a swept cornice above the band. These piers are included for their group value.
