Description

No. 11 Mowbray Road is a house built around 1850. It is constructed of garden wall bond brick with painted ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof with a brick chimney. The house has three storeys and three windows, with an additional three on the right return to Park Place West.

The central entrance has a double panelled door of Sunderland type that folds back to reveal an inner door and an overlight, all framed by pilasters and an entablature with a dentilled cornice. Wedge stone lintels and projecting stone sills are present on the flanking casements and on the central first-floor sash, which has horizontal glazing bars and flanking blind windows. The third-floor sash, located below the gable peak, has a similar sill and a plain stone round head, along with a plain bargeboard.

The roof features a ridge chimney at the rear. The building has full-height corniced angle pilasters on both fronts, with the elevation facing Park Place West showcasing three ground-floor canted bays that also have dentilled cornices. The first-floor sashes are corniced with projecting sills, and the smaller top-floor sashes have similar sills, with an eaves gutter cornice linking the pilasters. This house completes the southern end of Park Place West.
