Description

No. 1 Newcastle Terrace is a house, now divided into separate flats, built around 1830 with some alterations made in the late 19th century. The building is constructed of English bond brick with ashlar dressings and has a Welsh slate roof featuring end brick chimneys, one of which has an ashlar cornice. It has a basement and three storeys, with a total of four bays.

There is a 20th-century door inserted on the left side, and a sash window has been placed in the original doorway, which is framed by a stone architrave in the third bay. The windows have wedge stone lintels, with the upper sashes featuring glazing bars, and the basement has casement windows. Beneath the ground floor sills, there are recessed stone panels, along with floor bands and a gutter cornice. On the first floor, there are single cast-iron balconies for the outer windows, which extend continuously across the central bays. A 20th-century porch has been added to the basement in the third bay, but it is not considered of interest.
