Description

This house, now used as a bank and dwelling, dates from around 1840. It is constructed of English bond brick, with a painted rusticated ground floor, a painted and incised rendered basement, and side steps. The roof is covered in Welsh slate. The building has a basement and three storeys, with four bays. A recessed door is set within an architrave in the second bay. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, found on the ground and first floors, with one window on the second floor of the second bay; some bays are blind. The ground floor windows have painted stone wedge lintels and projecting stone sills, with sunken panels beneath the sills. Brick pilasters support a painted eaves gutter band and cornice. The roof is low-pitched. An incised stone panel reads "ALLENDALE PLACE" on the right side, while "DAWSON SQUARE" appears on the left return and "HUNTINGTON PLACE" on the right return.
