Description
The Statue of Queen Victoria, located opposite Number 10 on Front Street in Tynemouth, was erected in 1902 and is signed by the sculptor Alfred Turner. The statue features a Portland stone ashlar base and a bronze statue of Queen Victoria, who is depicted in full robes seated on a throne, holding a sceptre in her right hand. The statue stands on a square pedestal that has diagonal buttresses and bracketed corners, with an inscription on the coping. There are two wide square steps leading up to the pedestal. On the right upright of the pedestal is a small statue of a mother and child, while the left statue is missing as of the time of the survey. This statue was erected through public subscription.
