Description
No. 1 Dawson Square is a house built around 1830. It features English bond brick construction with an ashlar basement and dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has a basement and three storeys, with three bays and an additional bay on the left side that faces Allendale Place.
The main entrance is a four-panelled door with an overlight, located in the second bay. There is an inserted sash window to the left in the same bay. All the windows are sashes with glazing bars, set beneath stone wedge lintels. The ground floor has slightly recessed stone sills above brick panels, while the second floor has projecting stone sills. There are bands at the ground and first floors, and an eaves gutter cornice above the band. The basement door is located under the steps leading to the main door.
A slightly projecting brick pilaster is found at the left corner of the building. Each first-floor window features a bracketed cast iron balcony. The roof is low-pitched and hipped, with a brick chimney positioned at the right end.
