Description
The war memorial located in the garden south of Christ Church was built around 1920 to honor the men of the parish who died in the Great War from 1914 to 1918. It is constructed of ashlar and has an octagonal plan. The memorial features three steps leading up to the pedestal, with alternate sides projecting outwards. The names of the deceased are carved into panels on the sides. It has a moulded plinth supporting a tall tapered octagonal shaft, which includes blind tracery below and on the cornice. At the top, there is a chamfered stone cross adorned with richly-carved foliate terminals.
