Description
The Statue of General Havelock is located in the south-west of Mowbray Park on Building Hill. It was created in 1861 by the sculptor Behnes and features a founder's mark from The Statue Foundry in Pimlico, London. The statue is made of bronze and stands over life size, depicting General Havelock in military uniform with a sword in hand. It is placed on a high stepped base and a tall square granite plinth. An inscription on the plinth reads: "Born 5 April 1775 at Ford Hall, Bishopwearmouth. Died 24 November 1857 at Dil Koosha, Lucknow."
