Description
The Equestrian Statue of Viscount Hardinge, located in the grounds of Albion Villa at number 6 Church End, was created in 1858 by the artist J.H. Foley RA. This heroic bronze figure depicts Viscount Hardinge in military uniform and cloak, although it is notable that the left hand is missing, possibly lost in battle. The statue stands on a base featuring a broken mortar and part of a gun carriage wheel, with rounded ends that suggest it was once mounted on a plinth. This statue was previously listed in the Fifth list of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest in the District of Sevenoaks, Kent, as of January 16, 1975. It was originally located in front of South Park on Grove Road in Penshurst, Kent, but was removed from that site and de-listed on March 20, 1989.
