Description

Church Farmhouse is a house dating from around 1700, although it has an earlier stack. It is constructed of red brick, mainly in Flemish bond, and features a hipped tiled roof with a ridge stack located between the front and rear sections. The building has a plain eaves cornice and an original L-plan layout. It stands two storeys high with attics and includes two hipped dormers. There are five later flush frame windows with segmental arches, including three 19th or 20th century hung sashes, each with twelve panes, set in open boxing. The central doorway has a later doorcase and a panelled door. To the right of the doorway, there are two ground floor 19th century hung sashes with segmental arches, featuring alternating burnt stretches and red brick headers. The left side windows have been replaced by a larger window. The right side elevation retains original blind window openings and a doorway that is now glazed.

Inside, there are abutting inglenook hearths between the front and service ranges, with narrow brick likely from an earlier house on the site. The early to mid-18th century closed-string staircase has five flights, turned balusters, square newels, and a moulded rail. The roof has staggered butt purlin construction and includes re-used timber. The parlour features a smaller fireplace and flanking round-headed cupboards with raised and fielded panels.
