Description

Milestone located about 150 metres south of the Church of Sacred Heart. This milestone dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with a mid-19th century alteration. It is made of cast iron and stands about half a metre high. The milestone features two sloping faces; the north side displays a low-relief "N" over the number "5", while the south side shows "M" (for Morpeth) above a bolted-on later iron panel marked "9 ¾".
