Description

This is a milepost located approximately a quarter mile north of Haugh Head, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of cast iron and stands about 2 feet high. The post has a triangular shape with a rounded back and a canted top. One side is inscribed with "MOR" for Morpeth, while the opposite side features "COR" for Cornhill, along with the distances of 30 and 14. The top of the milepost is marked with "L E," indicating London and Edinburgh, and the number 317.
