Description

This milepost, located about a quarter mile southeast of Barelees, dates from the early 19th century and is made of cast iron. It has a triangular shape with a steeply canted top. One side is inscribed with "MOR" for Morpeth, while the opposite side features "COR" for Cornhill along with the distance of 42 2. The top of the milepost is marked with "L E" for London and Edinburgh, indicating a distance of 329 49. The milepost is partly buried.
