Description

Milepost at Millfield Mill Road end, dating from the early 19th century, is made of cast iron and stands approximately 2 feet high with a steeply-canted top. One side is inscribed with "MOR" for Morpeth, while the other side features "COR" for Cornhill, indicating a distance of 37 miles. The top of the milepost is inscribed with "L E" for London and Edinburgh, showing a distance of 324 miles and 54 chains.
