Description
North Lodge to Coupland Castle is a lodge built in the early to mid-19th century, with later extensions added in the 19th century. It is constructed of random rubble with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The building is single storey and originally comprised three bays, later extended to include a fourth bay on the left.
The original section of the lodge has raised quoins and a central four-panelled door, which is topped by a triangular overlight set within a Tudor-arched, moulded, and hollow-chamfered surround, complete with a dripstone. On either side of the door are 12-pane sash windows, also in similar surrounds with hoodmoulds.
The one-bay addition on the left is rendered and features pink ashlar dressings, raised quoins, and a 12-pane sash window in a raised surround. The roof is hipped and swept, with widely projecting eaves and two octagonal ridge stacks positioned over the original section.
