Description

This is a milepost located approximately three-quarters of a mile south of Millfield, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a triangular shape with a rounded back and a canted top. One face of the milepost is inscribed with "MOR" for Morpeth, while the opposite side displays "COR" for Cornhill, along with the distance of 36 miles and 8 chains. The top of the milepost is marked with "L E" for London and Edinburgh, indicating the direction.
