Description

This is a milepost located approximately three-quarters of a mile south of Surrey House, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of cast iron and stands about 18 inches high. The milepost has a triangular shape with a rounded back and a canted top. One side is inscribed with "MOR" for Morpeth, while the opposite side features "COR" for Cornhill, along with the distance "29 15." The top of the milepost is marked with "L E," indicating London and Edinburgh.
