Description
The gingang and attached threshing barn at West Flodden Farmhouse dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of rubble with dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The structure includes a circular gingang connected by a short section to the threshing barn, which has a granary above it.
The gingang has three windows, each with glazed upper sections and shuttered lower sections, topped by a conical roof made of graduated slates. The linking section features boarded double doors and a ridged roof.
The three-bay barn has a boarded door set in a tooled-and-margined alternating-block surround, along with windows that have shutters below and 8-pane upper sections, all in similar surrounds. There is also a pitching door to the granary on the right return.
Inside the gingang, there are impressive roof timbers, including a king post with radiating struts and two levels of ring purlins.
