Description
Mardon Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1840. It features scored stucco with ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays across and three bays deep, with a lower service wing and a mid-19th century addition at the rear that matches the original style. The façade has raised alternating quoins and a chamfered plinth. The narrow recessed central bay contains a six-panel door with a four-pane overlight, framed by a broad chamfered surround topped with a cornice. Above the door is a 12-pane sash window with a modillion cornice. The flanking bays also have 12-pane sash windows set in raised surrounds with projecting mid-jamb blocks. The farmhouse has wide overhanging stone eaves and a hipped roof with two brick ridge stacks.
The left return of the building displays similar architectural details, while the right return features a round-headed stair window. Inside, the staircase has slender turned balusters and a wreathed handrail, along with six-panel doors and panelled shutters. The fireplaces are adorned with stone cornices.
