Description
The Blue Bell is a public house that was formerly a coaching inn, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick in English Garden Wall Bond, with slightly later additions at the rear made of random rubble with ashlar dressings and pantiled roofs.
The main block is two storeys high and has three bays. It features 12-pane sash windows in plain reveals with flat brick arches. The right bay includes a 9-pane sash window on the first floor and a projecting single-storey one-bay wing with a 12-pane sash window on the ground floor. The building has a gabled roof with tumbled-in brickwork and two 20th-century brick ridge stacks.
To the right, there is a slightly later single-storey extension also made of brick, which was extended to the right in stone during the 19th century. There is a doorway located at the rear. The rear extension consists of a two-storey, one-bay section with 12-pane sashes on the left and a single-storey, two-bay section on the right.
