Description
Redpath is a shop located at No. 16 in Wooler's Market Place, likely built in the 18th century, with a 19th-century shop front. The exterior features scored stucco, a pantiled roof, and old brick chimneys, along with a wooden shop front. Originally designed as a cross-passage house, it has a slightly later rear wing, resulting in an L-shaped layout.
The building has two storeys. The original design included two broad bays with a central door, but the ground floor has been altered and now features an irregular shop front with a door to the left. The shop front is adorned with plain pilasters and a moulded cornice supported by elaborate brackets. To the right of the door, there is a 12-pane sash window. The first-floor windows have had their intermediate glazing bars removed and have raised surrounds.
The roof is steeply pitched and gabled, with chimney stacks at both ends. At the rear of the wing, there are two stables with boarded, half-hung doors and decorative strap hinges.
Inside, the roof features 18th-century collar-beam trusses.
