Description
Number 1 and the attached garages are cottages and garages that were formerly stables and carriage sheds, dating from the 18th century and early 19th century. They are constructed from random rubble and feature pantiled and Welsh slate roofs. This row consists of four single-storey buildings that step down a steep hill.
On the left is a two-bay cottage with a 20th-century door and a sash window set in alternating-block surrounds. It has a Welsh slate roof and an ashlar end stack.
To the right of the cottage is a garage with two boarded double doors and a 6-pane sash window in between. Above this is a shuttered window that used to serve a hay loft. It has a steeply-pitched gabled pantiled roof.
Next is another garage that has double doors on the right and a 12-pane fixed window on the left, topped with a steeply-pitched Welsh slate roof.
On the far right is a one-bay garage featuring boarded double doors with 19th-century or early 20th-century lettering. This garage has a steeply-pitched pantiled roof with a brick end stack, and on its right return, there is a boarded door with ventilation holes.
The buildings are included for their group value.
