Description

Barclays Bank is a late 19th-century bank constructed in ashlar with a Welsh slate roof, built in a Classical style. The building is two storeys and an attic, with three bays. The ground floor is rusticated, with the rustication forming voussoirs to round-headed doorways in the outer bays, each with a two-leaf, six-panelled door. The three central windows are closely set and separated by four Ionic columns rising from a moulded sill. A cornice runs over the ground floor. The first floor’s left bay breaks forward slightly. There are three four-paned sash windows in architraves, the sills of which are connected to form a string, with floating cornices above each window. A moulded cornice is followed by a parapet with urn balusters. The roof is gabled, with flat coping and tall, corniced end stacks. Three round-headed dormer windows contain small-paned casements.
